Google - Largest search engine with the most searches. Also, as a verb, “to Google” something or someone as a search.
GoogleBot - The crawler that Google uses on a daily basis to find and index new Web pages.
Header tags - An HTML tag that designates headlines in the body copy of a website. These tags are designated in importance by the numbers 1 through 6, with 1 being the largest headline. They are important to SEO efforts because most engines will give extra weight to keywords contained within these tags.
HTML - The acronym for Hypertext Markup Language. Most Web pages are written in HTML. The language consists of simple tags used to define sections of a document.
ICANN - ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is a non-profit corporation responsible for the IP address space allocation, protocol parameter assignment, domain name system management, and root server system management.
Inbound link - A link from another website to yours.
ISO statement - Use of Internet-IP addresses in the ISO Connectionless-Mode Network Protocol.
ISP - An organization that provides users with connectivity to the Internet. Usually users pay a fee for the use of an ISP. AOL and Earthlink are two popular ISP’s.
IP address - Each machine connected to the Internet has an address known as an Internet Protocol address (IP address). The IP address takes the form of four numbers separated by dots, for example: 123.45.67.222
